Ad - Prayer for the Welfare of Sir Herbert Samuel. Palestine 1920
This is a version of the traditional Prayer for the Welfare of Government specifically composed for Sir Herbert Samuel when he arrived in Palestine in 1920. It would be said in synagogue in conjunction with the Sabbath Torah reading.
"May He Who blessed our forefathers...bless his highness our brother minister Eliezer ben Menachem, Sir Herbert Samuel; May G-d preserve him, the high commissioner of the Land of Israel. May g-d.. be with him to nurture the Jewish people...to revive the desolate and rebuild the ruins of our land and succeed in all his endeavors...In his days and ours may Israel achieve eternal salvation... amen.
