On Israel's 10th Independence Day 1958, the parade was held in Jerusalem, marking the tenth anniversary of the country, and was called the "March of the Decade". The parade began with a procession held at the stadium of the Hebrew University in Givat Ram and continued with a march through the streets of Jerusalem. The parade included tanks of the "Sherman" type and -AMX 13. This was contrary to the truce agreements and before the parade tensions increased on the border line between Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan, due to Jordanian protests over the holding of the parade. Jordan declared a state of emergency in East Jerusalem and even deployed a tank force in the area for fear of a military flare-up between Israel and Jordan The United States evacuates its citizens from Israel, but in the end the parade passed without special events.
