THANKING FRENCH PILOTS - 1957 P.M. Ben-Gurion gift to France Pilots after Sinai Campaign, Rare Silver-plated bronze Medal - Israel awarded this medal to French pilots from the paratroops corps who had helped open the Gulf of Eilat to Israeli shipping. The front shows the symbol of the IDF over conjoined French and Israeli flags. We read in French ”Your Right (hand) was my support” (Psalms 18:36). The reverse shows a shield on which is engraved ”In profound recognition for his contribution” and Ben Gurion's signature. It is dated 6 May 1957 which was Israel Independence day that year. Extremely rare medal, probably only tens copies imprinted, for the few French pilots participated in Kadesh Operation. Diameter: 8 cm. please see photos for self-grading.
