Max Warschawski , born on July 4 , 1925 in Strasbourg in the French department of Bas-Rhin , and died on September 13, 2006 in Jerusalem , Israel , is the former grand rabbi of Strasbourg and Bas-Rhin. Great figure of the Jewish resistance against the German occupation in Alsace , he is a historian of Judaism Alsatian and militant for the peace .
