Where We Were and What We Did - Amnon Dankner, David Tartakover 1996
Hard cover + DJ 214 p. 22 x 28 cm 1110 grams Fine condition Where we were and what we did, curator of the fifties and sixties , is a lexicon of Hebrew phrases common in the State of Israel in the 50s and 60s by Amnon Dankner and David Tartakover . Was published in 1996 by Keter Publishing House in Jerusalem . The title of the book is a paraphrase of the children's play " Where were you and what did you do ", which was prevalent during those years. The lexicon, written in Humor , documents terms and concepts from everyday life in the State of Israel in the 1950s and 1960s , the first two decades after its establishment . In the introduction to the book, the authors wrote that it reflects to a certain extent their own experiences, rather than the example of children and adolescents "in the moshav or in the moshava, kibbutz or transit camp" in the 1950s and 1960s; "The picture of the world of urban children and youth who have sneaked into cinemas , collected gum wrappers, played marbles , stanga and five stones , piously read our" country , "went to summer camps, replaced books in private lending libraries , Heard a lot of radio , were members of youth movements , launched fish oil and heard grim warnings from their parents about the dangers inherent in the spirit of bursts ... ". [1] In other words, the authors' lexicon of culture reflects mainly the world of middle-class , secular youth who look curiously at all around them, sometimes without sorting out the main and the minor, while creating new or new priorities than they knew With their parents. The book is designed in the style of albums, and contains many colorful pictures and illustrations. The many materials were collected from newspapers and magazines , food packaging and wrappings, children's play items, stamps and postage envelopes, postcards , logos , logos , and advertisement ads whose message and language reflected the spirit of the times.
