MODEL 1917 US DOUGHBOY HELMET DST 303 HQ
Original Model 1917 U.S. helmet, stenciled on the underside in black letters 'D.S.T. 303 H.Q.' with the standard American type liner consisting of woven of cotton twine in meshes with the small pieces of rubber around the edge of the lining covered by a piece of black oil cloth. Between the lining and the steel bowl is also piece of felt. The tightening nut is also present. An adjustable leather chin strap is riveted to the steel bowl. To make the outside surface of the helmet anti-glare, the helmets were first painted, then fine sawdust was blown on the wet paint, and finally the helmet was painted again. The sawdust is still evident overall.
