Tivisco de Nasao Zarco e Colona is the pseudonym of Manuel de Carvalho e Ataíde, father of the Marquis of Pombal. The work was actually printed in Lisbon without the necessary licenses, which is perhaps why the pseudonym was used. Manuel dos Santos [General Bibliography, 4776] enlightens us about the date of printing of the work regarding a Permit that Inocêncio also mentions [v. V, p. 387], but which, according to the first bibliographer, was mistaken in dating. Manuel dos Santos says: “In Mr. Count of Castro e Solla there is the Permit that ordered this work to be apprehended throughout the country. Consulting the copy of His Excellency, we find that the Royal resolution, which ordered the seizure, is dated July 23, 1703[...]”. It follows that the work must have been printed in 1703 or 1702. Interestingly, José dos Santos [Samodães, 623] transcribes some years later Inocêncio's indications, giving the work as printed in 1712-13. Did you not see the reference to Manuel dos Santos or did you confirm the ones in the Bibliographical Dictionary? Copy bound in full calfskin of the time. Restorations and handwritten notes, also from the period, on many side sheets. Generalized acid stains typical of the quality of the paper. Very rare and treasured.
