Despite the indication of a second edition, only the first volume had been previously published - Lisboa, Henrique Valente de Oliveira, 1667 - and the publication was interrupted. Thus, the second and third volumes were only published after the re-edition of this first volume. According to Innocent, v. V, p. 417, the indication of a second edition was given by Manuel de Faria e Sousa himself in reference to his other work Epitome de las Historias Portuguesas, “which he added, expanded and altered as he saw fit”. The work contains the History of Portugal, the first volume being dedicated to the history of the territory until the foundation of Portugal, the second volume from D. Henrique to D. João III, with the respective portraits and the third from D. Sebastião to Filipe IV . Rare and treasured.
