The issue provides a full description of the execution from eyewitness accounts. “The hanging lasted only a few minutes. Eichmann, without his glasses, pale-faced, his hands, knees, and legs bound, was extremely calm, and one minute before the execution quietly declared: ‘Long live Germany, long live Austria, and long live Argentina!’ At 23:58 the officer in charge gave the command ‘Proceed!’ and the door upon which the tyrant stood opened, and he fell to a great depth. A government physician examined the body several minutes later and determined Eichmann’s death.”

The newspaper reports that the priest sent to Eichmann’s cell hours before his execution stated that he expressed no remorse or sorrow whatsoever. The execution was carried out in the presence of the Commissioner of Prisons, two policemen, a government physician, Reverend William Hull, and four journalists. Eichmann’s hands were tied behind his back. “All that time Eichmann stood pale and without his glasses... Silence prevailed in the small room as the warders placed the noose around his neck and tightened it; Eichmann still continued to stand calmly, and it was an almost unnatural sight for a man who knew that within a few minutes he would no longer be among the living... Then the officer called toward a mechanism concealed behind a curtain: ‘Proceed!’ and the trapdoor gave way and Eichmann fell to a depth of about one meter from the floor into the room beneath the gallows...”.

On May 31, following the President’s rejection of the clemency request, Eichmann was executed by hanging at 23:58. His body was cremated in the courtyard of Ramla Prison, and his ashes were scattered at sea beyond the territorial waters of the State of Israel. The sentence was carried out by Shalom Nagar. This was the only time in the history of the State of Israel that a death sentence imposed upon a defendant in a criminal trial conducted through due legal process was carried out.
