What kind of person stands before Israeli judges? - Special issue of the American Newsweek at the opening of the Adolf Eichmann trial in Jerusalem

Special issue of the American Newsweek magazine - the opening of Adolf Eichmann's trial in Jerusalem with the headline: Eichmann on Trial. On the issue's title page is a picture of Eichmann against the background of an emaciated prisoner behind a barbed wire fence. April 17, 1961.

At the beginning of the issue it is written: "Adolf Eichmann, accused of the deaths of millions of Jews in World War II, is finally standing trial. What kind of man faces his Israeli judges? And what will their judgment mean for Jews, Germans and all mankind?...". In the center pages a special report by Curtis J. Pepper and Robert Massie including interviews with experts on war crimes expressing their opinions regarding the highly publicized trial, and a discussion of whether Israel has the right to try a Nazi for crimes committed outside Israel even before the State of Israel existed. The article is accompanied by photographs of Eichmann himself as well as tragic photographs of victims of Nazism. The issue reports on hundreds of reporters besieging the courtroom, and on the great interest surrounding it worldwide, as well as the reactions around the world to the moment when Eichmann's face was exposed for the first time as he entered the courtroom. It tells of how Eichmann behaved with the Mossad agents who captured him ("was always courteous and acted exactly according to the rules set for him"), details the crimes Eichmann was accused of, and more.
