"I also want to be a Hitler child" - a reading book for children with Nazi messages. Braunschweig, 1934

Kinderwelt Lesebuch für die Grundschulen des braunschweigischen Landes - Children's World - Reading book for the elementary schools of the state of Braunschweig - first volume. 127 stories and over 100 colorful pictures published by George Westermann - Braunschweig - Berlin - Hamburg, 1934 - stories for children in the spirit of German patriotism, including Nazi stories and illustrations to educate children to obedience to the Führer.

Alongside poems about breakfast, "at school", "good child sleep" and many others, there is a poem called Hitler Jugend - Hitler Youth: "Listen, hey, what is it? Hooray, Song! Would you like to walk there? Oh yes! Hitler Youth! See how they march: backpacks on their backs, hat on their head, and their legs in shorts, and always in the rhythm left right left, let's go fast. Listen to what they sing: Rise, German eagle like you... Greetings to you, my German father's land!... Oh, I want to be a Hitler child too! But now I have to go back. You can still hear the song around the corner. We are Hitler Youth". The poem is accompanied by an illustration of youngsters in Hitler Youth uniforms marching while one of the children salutes with a raised hand. Another poem in the book is accompanied by an illustration of a young instructor teaching children to salute with a raised hand and one of the children holding a Nazi swastika flag. There are also poems that educate the young children to the culture of war - there is a poem under the title: "Playing wars" - "You know what Bruno? We want to play wars again, oh yes, we haven't played it for a long time... We are already setting off, run fast...". another poem "A tour of the city of Braunschweig", and more.

This is the first edition in which Hitler Youth songs were introduced and Nazi motifs were incorporated into the book. The previous editions were published before the Nazi party took power and did not contain Nazi motifs.
