Experiences of Prisoner No. 793 in Bereza - prison for dissidents in Poland on the eve of World War II

Przezycia Bereziaka Nr. 793 - The Experiences of Prisoner No. 793 in Bereza, by Bartz Maksymilian - Brussels, 1945 - First edition. Polish.

Testimony of a Polish prisoner who was taken by the Polish police to Bereza - a place of detention and prison for opponents of fascism in Poland before the outbreak of World War II. Maksymilian describes the long months he spent in detention, the many interrogations he underwent, periods of solitary confinement, as well as the fate of his fellow prisoners who were also accused of underground activity. Most of the booklet deals with his stay in Bereza in 1936-1937, and documents the "treatment" methods used against opponents of the regime in Poland before the outbreak of World War II. Accompanied by photographs of many documents he signed during the numerous interrogations he underwent in Poland.

The author was among the first to join the resistance movement in Belgium during the war. After being liberated at the end of the war he established the Association of Polish Patriots in Belgium, which acted to turn Poland into a true democracy.

The booklet was donated to the children of Polish and Belgian partisans who fell in the war.
