Songbook for the "She'erith HaPletah" Children – Brussels, 1945 – Photographs and Music Notes

האנט-אין-האנט, קאלעקטיוו זאמלהעפט ["Hand in Hand", Collaborative Collection]. Published by "שול און דערציונג" ["School and Education"], Brussels, July 1945. Yiddish. Collection of poems for children of the "She'erith HaPletah", accompanied by musical notations and photographs of children from the Y.L. Peretz School in Brussels". The pages of the booklet feature, among other things, photographs of children of the She'erith HaPletah returning to life, engaging in various social activities, and a children's performance that took place in Brussels at the end of the war.

"With the destruction of Poland, we discovered a powerful source of words in Yiddish. The "School and Education" society, feeling the weight of the moment, took upon itself the task of establishing a publishing project, and within its limited means, to fill at least a small part in the present Jewish cultural life. "Hand in Hand" is the first attempt in this field. We hope that the Jewish public will receive our modest contribution to the revival of our shattered cultural positions". (From the Yiddish introduction).

The poems in the booklet deal with descriptions of the Holocaust horrors, alongside excerpts of empowerment for new life: "...Guarding day and night, blood and blood, screams and tears in the face of death, yet sometime in our lives the fresh spring will make beautiful, freedom... We will be strong!... Life is precious, tears of sadness and joy... A shining tear in the eye...". This is also reflected in the cover illustration, on one hand guard towers alongside barbed wire fences in a concentration camp, and on the other hand settlement, blossoming, and singing.

34 p. 22 cm. Minor stains on some pages of the booklet. Good condition.
