The photograph shows the senior British judge Sir Geoffrey Lawrence (Lord Justice Lawrence), who served as President of the International Military Tribunal, presenting his official identification and entry pass to a soldier of the American Military Police (wearing a white helmet) at the entrance to the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg. The photograph was taken just one week before the dramatic pronouncement of the sentences against the leaders of the Nazi regime.
