Organ of the unified Socialist-Zionist Poale Zion movement in the German-speaking sphere after the Holocaust. Intended for an audience of Holocaust survivors, it dealt with topics such as: Germans and Jews after 1945, activists and supporters of the Poale Zion movement, with an emphasis on nation-building, immigration, pioneering education, youth and immigrant absorption, alliances between the State of Israel and Western European countries, Swiss aid to Moroccan Jews, Hebrew and pioneering literature in Vienna, Israeli security and Middle Eastern tensions, Jewish holidays, and more. The design of the issues is characteristic of movement-affiliated press from the period. All issues are accompanied by photographs of pioneers, youth, labor and community life in Israel, creating the atmosphere of a “new beginning.”
Rare. The WorldCat global library catalog lists only three entries of issues from 1961, all held in libraries in Germany.
