Item Overview

Description:

Collection of articles – Cultural Program of the Brit Halutzim Datiyim in Hungary – A rare publication for the She’erit Hapletah in the aftermath of the war

Oszef Máámárim a magyarországi BÁCHÁD (Brit Chalucim Datiim = Vallásos Chalucok Szövetsége) hachsarainak kulturprogrammjához - Collection of articles – Cultural program of the Brit Halutzim Datiyim for the cultural program of its Hachsharot in Hungary. Budapest, Adar II 5706 – March 1946. Stencil print. In Hungarian. Extremely rare.

A rare Jewish publication issued on Hungarian soil less than a year after the end of World War II. The booklet was intended for the She’erit Hapletah and includes articles on the care for the remnants of the Jewish community in Hungary left behind after the Holocaust, documentation of the crimes of Nazi Germany, Hebrew language instruction, the mission and purpose of the Hachsharah – to renew agricultural labor in the Land of Israel, forgotten during centuries of exile, the difference between conditions in the Land of Israel and those in the Diaspora, preparation for collective life in a kibbutz, assistance for immigrants to the Land of Israel, and more. This is a fascinating testimony to the tremendous efforts made by survivors in Hungary to restore Jewish, Zionist, and religious life immediately after the end of the fighting. The Bachad movement (Brit Halutzim Datiyim) was the pioneering arm of Hapoel Hamizrachi, dedicated to training young people for immigration to the Land of Israel through hachsharah kibbutzim operating in and around Budapest.

Extremely rare. Not listed in the WorldCat global library catalog.
