“The Voice of Agudath Israel!” – An urgent poster addressed to all activists and members of Agudath Israel, calling upon “the tens of thousands who sigh and groan over their fate” – the fate of the Jewish people at this hour! Announcing a national general conference to be held on the 2nd and 3rd of Nisan 5701 – March 30–31, 1941, to determine a course of action in light of the grave afflictions befalling the Jewish people in the occupied countries of Europe.

“The days of terror now sweeping over all of Israel in every place of exile compel us, those who tremble at the word of God, to shoulder the heavy burden of responsibility now resting upon the Congregation of Israel. The Jewish Diaspora groans in silence and writhes in its piercing agony to the depths; the strongholds of Torah have been destroyed, Jewish communities are disintegrating, due to our many sins, and the hand of the wicked holds sway over the stricken exile…”. The poster announces a conference to be held at the beginning of the month of Nisan 5701 (March 1941) with the aim of establishing a united front that will determine the course of action across all areas of life in response to the grave events unfolding.
