Queen Elizabeth II [born 21 April 1926] is the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and 14 other countries. She also serves as the head of the British Commonwealth, which also includes countries over which she has no control. Her tenure began with the death of her father, King George VI, on February 6, 1952. At the beginning of her reign, her kingdom was subject to seven states, and throughout her tenure she reigned in 32 different states. As of September 2015 she became a queen whose tenure is the longest in the history of the British monarchy. Queen Elizabeth II lived longer than all her predecessors in office, saw a dozen prime ministers come and go, and own over 60 years of British history. As of October 2016, following the death of Rama IX King of Thailand, she is the leader of the oldest country in the world, and the most popular of them.
