On the back of the photo is handwritten: "Je joins la Fécondité" - "I attach Fécondité". One of the novels Zola published in his younger days as a writer was called "Fécondité" and dealt with the character of the French population, and it is possible that Zola himself wrote the above sentence by attaching his picture to a book he wrote and devoting to someone. This hypothesis is strengthened in light of the comparison of the manuscript in which the above sentence was written which is identical to the manuscript of Zola in the period.
