Beilis with his family after his release. Early postcard
בייליס אין דער היים נאך זיין בעפרייאונג - Beilis at his home alongside his family and friends after his release. Early postcard, Russia c- 1913.
Postcard showing Menahem Mendel Beilis after his release. Beilis sat in prison for two years after activists from the far-right "Black Centuries" spread the charge that the murder of a Christian Ukrainian boy as part of a Jewish religious ritual was intended to prepare the blood of the Passover matzah victim, in the blood libel that is considered the most famous in the 20th century. Four months after the body was discovered, he was arrested as a suspect in the murder, based on false testimony. At the end of the two years [in 1913] during which a great deal of anti-Semitism arose throughout Russia and Ukraine, his trial in Kiev ended when the jury acquitted him of any guilt.
Not sent by mail, very good condition.
