SOUTH ITALIAN TERRACOTTA AMPHORA
5th century BCE. 63 cm high. Red and white on black figured, depicts a naked youth standing in a shrine, flanked by a naked figure and a dressed lady. At the top appears a winged bust of a female deity. On the other side a column is flanked also by a naked youth and a dressed lady. The sides and the neck are decorated with palmettes. The handles are decorated with the masks of Medusa and terminates in duck heads. Professionally restored from fragments. Ex Jacob Marcus collection, Old Jaffa.
