James Craig Nicoll (1846 - 1918) Watercolor and gouache on paper, signed lower left "J. C. Nicoll" and dated 1877, piece measures 10 x 14.5 and 11.5 x 16 inches w/ frame. Marine painter. Born in NYC on Nov. 22, 1846. Nicoll was an Eastern painter who was in San Diego in 1896-97. While there, he painted several views of Catalina Island. He died in Norwalk, CT on July 25, 1918.
