Lot of 6 portrait postcards of Hebrew and Yiddish writers: Shammai Heltnikov, Sholem Asch, Asher Ginzberg (Ahad Ha'am), M. Stavski, H.N. Bialik and Dr. Simon Bernfeld, from the Verlag Hatchijah series, A. Robinsohn, Stanislau (Galicia), unused, 1910-1918 - 6 postcards from the writers' portrait series of Verlag Hatchijah (as printed on the front), the publishing house and bookshop of A. Robinsohn in Stanislau, Galicia (Verlags-Buchhandlung A. Robinsohn, Stanislau Galizien, as printed on the back of some cards). Each card shows the writer's portrait in a frame of roses, a lyre, books and an inkwell, with a scroll carrying his biography and work in Hebrew or Yiddish. In the lot: Shammai Heltnikov, name as printed in Hebrew on the card, born in Ruzhin, author of ”Pesi'a Rishona” (First Step), published by Hatchijah, card no. 27; Sholem Asch, card no. 14; Asher Ginzberg (Ahad Ha'am); M. Stavski, card no. 24; H.N. Bialik; Dr. Simon Bernfeld, card no. 9. Printed 1910-1918: some cards of the series give the writer's year of death, 1910 (5671), and the ”Stanislau Galizien” address belongs to the Austrian period in Galicia. Unused. Age toning and wear, a diagonal crease on one card, a piece of paper stuck on the back of another, pencil marks on the back of some cards. Condition: exactly as photographed.
