Lilien postcards: ”Die Weissagung des Jesaia” (The Prophecy of Isaiah) and ”Sodoms Ruinen” (The Ruins of Sodom) from the book ”Juda”, ”Lastenträger” (Porters), ”Nargilehraucher” (Nargileh Smoker) and ”Affium-Karahissar”, published by B. Harz, Berlin - Lot of 5 art postcards by Ephraim Moses Lilien (1874-1925), one of the fathers of Jewish and Zionist art and among the founders of ”Bezalel” in Jerusalem, all published by Verlag von B. Harz, Berlin N 24. All unused. Two cards from the book ”Juda, Gesänge von Börries, Freiherrn v. Münchhausen, illustriert von E. M. Lilien”, in Jugendstil with ornamental frames: 1. ”E. M. LILIEN, DIE WEISSAGUNG DES JESAIA” (The Prophecy of Isaiah). 2. ”E. M. LILIEN, SODOMS RUINEN” (The Ruins of Sodom): the ruined city among cliffs and trees under a stormy sky. And three etchings of figures and scenes from the East, with the artist's monogram in the plate: 3. ”Lastenträger” (Porters), No. 81: two porters climbing a steep path, the first carrying a large crate and the second a wicker basket. Back inscribed ”Aus dem Buche 'Erez Israel und sein Volk'” (from the book ”Eretz Israel and its People”). 4. ”Nargilehraucher” (Nargileh Smoker): a man in a fez and robe sitting on a wall smoking a nargileh, with minareted mosques in the background. No. 59. 5. ”Affium-Karahissar” (Afyonkarahisar, Turkey): a street of old houses at the foot of a huge rock. No. 55. Condition: signs of age and light wear to corners and edges, light stains, pencil notes on the backs.
