Lot of 2 chromolithographic trade cards with caricatures of Jewish merchants: one in a blue cap with a red ribbon, checked coat, yellow gloves and shoulder bag, holding a blank white scroll intended for the advertiser's text; the other in a top hat with a white scarf, a red beard and a flower in his lapel, leaning on a stone parapet before a blank advertising board. Figures with exaggerated noses and beards against a brick wall. Pencilled ”Judaika” on the backs. Size about 11.5 cm. Judaica, caricature, late 19th century (estimated). - Lot of 2 chromolithographic trade cards without printed text, each with a blank white area within the picture intended for the merchant's imprint. Both cards from the same series, plain backs with pencilled ”Judaika” and numbering. 1. A man in profile in a blue cap tied with a red ribbon, brown checked coat, green striped suit, yellow gloves and black shoulder bag, holding a cane and pointing at a blank white scroll, against a pink brick wall. Small artist's monogram at left. 2. A man in profile in a green top hat wrapped in a long white scarf, red beard, red bow tie, flower in the lapel, green coat, yellow striped trousers and shoulder bag, leaning on a stone parapet and looking at a blank yellow advertising board on the wall. Both cards show the caricatured type of the Jewish merchant as it appeared in European advertising of the late 19th century. Size about 11.5 cm.
