נדיר!!! סוכנות לויד האוסטרית בירושלים, פלסטין 1854, מכתב מירושלים לממל' , נדיר מאד הנמען: הרב משה יעקב אשכנזי בן הרב הגאון רבי מרדכי זאב אשכנזי מקעמפנא, וחתן הרה”ג רבי משה פרידינזאהן מזאוויכוואסט. ובסוף ימיי היה דר בעיר מעמעל בפרייסין, והוא היה מופלג גדול בתורה וחכם מובהק ועשה טובות וחסדים לכלל ישראל בהיותו חשוב מאוד בעיני שרי הממשלה המעות הנשלח ממדות שונות לעניי אה”ק שלחו לידו והוא שלחם לתעודתם ע”י אוהבו השר ר' משה מאנטיפיורי כנודע. ונפטר בן לד שנים, ובמותו כתב השר מאנטיפיורי מכתב הנחומין לבניו כ' לא יבכו כי אביהם לא מת כי אנשים כמוהו אינם בגי תמותה ובמיתתם נקראים חיים. השר רבי משה מונטיפיורי אף כתב שיר לכבודו במותו. At the end of his days, he lived in the city of Ma'al in Freising, and he was an outstanding Torah scholar and a distinguished scholar who did good deeds and kindnesses to all of Israel, being very important in the eyes of the government ministers. The hundreds of letters sent from various states to the poor of the AHK were sent to him, and he was sent to their certificate by his beloved minister, Rabbi Moshe of Antifiore, as is well known.
