Bezalel Jerusalem. Years 1906-1914. Carpet made of cotton. Decorated by hand with a description of a mountain landscape seen through the arch, in the colors of deep blue, brown, green and beige, characteristics in the center, the cedar planted by Herzl during his only visit to the Holy Land. Two pillars on either side. The wood and supporting the arches, are reminiscent of the Sabbath candlesticks of Eastern Europe. Cartouches, a miniature Star of David and a stylish woven foliage pattern appear inside the wide frame along the edge of the carpet. Hebrew captions are intertwined with a narrow strip under the main picture and in the top and bottom frames. Dimensions: length 137 cm and wide 61.3 Source: private collection.
