Leilão Bidspirit | Two unique Chinese porcelain shard

Two unique Chinese porcelain shard boxes (known in English as Chinese Porcelain Shard Boxes), used as jewelry boxes or small decorative boxes. The lids are made from fragments of ancient Chinese porcelain dishes, jars or plates (in the traditional blue and white style) that were broken or cracked. Instead of throwing them away, the artists cut and smoothed the fragments into desired shapes (such as figures, butterflies or flowers). Each porcelain shard was individually matched and made into a silver-plated box with delicate decorations and reliefs around the sides.
