Description:
Gold Coin, Jericho
900-21 carat gold coin, Sites in Israel series, Government Company (1987). Limited edition of 4000 copies. Diameter: 22 mm. Weight: 8.63 grams. Presented in the original case.
Obverse of the coin: The face value 5 new shekels in Hebrew and Uzbek; the state emblem, the word Israel in Hebrew, English and Arabic and the date 1987.
Reverse of the coin: The inscription "Peace be upon Israel" from a mosaic of the ancient synagogue in Jericho, a rosette and columns from the palace of Caliph Hashem (743-724) and the shaft of the round tower at Tel a-Saltan, the ancient site of Jericho from the Neolithic period. The palm trees illustrate Jericho's nickname "City of Dates". The word Jericho in Hebrew and English.
