1.  “Pass of Souk Barrada, Near Zebdani

was created by William Henry Bartlett and is part of his series of illustrated views from the Middle East. This artwork was published around 1836-1838 by Fisher, Son & Co. as part of the series "Syria, The Holy Land, Asia Minor, &c.".

The lithograph depicts the scenic and rugged landscape of the Souk Barrada pass, located near the town of Zebdani (modern-day Zabadani) in Syria. 


2.  “Damascus
was drawn by Augustus Wall Callcott, a renowned British landscape painter, and was based on a sketch by C. Barry.
Engraved by E. Finden.
Published 1835, by Jhon Murray, & Sold also by C. Tilt,   London.
John Murray was a prominent British publisher known for producing high-quality travel books and illustrated works during the 19th century.

The reference “Amos 1:5” on the lithograph refers to a verse from the Book of Amos in the Bible. The verse reads:
“I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.” (Amos 1:5, KJV) 12
