מכתב שטערנא שרה NICE LETTER FROM Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah Schneersohn EXCELLENT COND Lengthy letter handwritten and signed by the wife of the Admo”r the Rasha”b and mother of the Admo”r the Rayya”tz. This letter was written in Yiddish, in Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah’s calligraphic cursive hand, - Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah Schneersohn (1860-1942), wife of Rebbe Rashab and mother of Rebbe Rayatz. She was the granddaughter of the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch and great-granddaughter of the Mitteler Rebbe. She supported and assisted her husband in all his activities. She lived through the upheavals of the first part of the 20th century. She fled the advancing front of World War I from Lubavitch to Rostov, where the RaSHaB passed away in 1920. She was released from Soviet Russia together with her son R. Yosef Yitzchok (Friediker Rebbe). They settled in Latvia and later in Poland. In 1940 they survived the bombing of Warsaw and were rescued from Nazi-occupied territory eventually immigrating to America. Following her passing, R. Yosef Yitzchak established a chain of schools named “Beis Sarah” to perpetuate her memory.
