Egyptian-style CANAANITE 4 Shekel Commercial Scale weight. Late Bronze, circa 13 Century BC. Weight 33.78 gram, Size 20 mm.
Descriptions of the type :
Two Egyptian Royal figures standing face to face. Each of them touches (actually banding) Sema-Tawy.
All within double frame.
The 4 lines on the side resembling the weight: 4 Shekels.
Sema-Tawy :
The Egyptian title "zmꜣ-tꜣwj" is translated as "Uniter of the Two Lands" and is represented by a trachea intertwined with the papyrus and lily plant. The trachea symbolizes unification, while the papyrus and lily plant represent Lower and Upper Egypt. The Pharaoh held title "Lord of the Two Lands" while as far as I know, only during the New Kingdom Pharaoh Kings where depicted as Sema-Tawy banders on monuments (in other periods Gods where depicted).
