An antique Swiss Abstract charcoal painting on paper by Johannes Itten, 1916. The painting depicts an abstract cubist still life. Signed and dated lower left. Housed in a carved gilt frame. Johannes Itten, 1888 to 1967, was a Swiss artist, art theorist, and teacher. He gained worldwide fame thanks to the Bauhaus educational propaedeutic course Vorlehre, which he created, and formed the basis for teaching in many modern design schools.
