PRE COLUMBIAN OLMEC BLUE BLACK JADEITE FIGURINE
An ancient hand carved Olmec figurine made of blue black jadeite. A seated smooth figure of a muscular man with his arms almost joined on his chest and a similar position of his legs. There are drilled holes in the face, corners of the mouth, nose and ears, as was typical of Olmec carvings. The Olmecs flourished during Mesoamericas formative period, dating roughly from as early as 1500 BC to about 400 BC. They were the first Mesoamerican civilization, and laid many of the foundations for the civilizations that followed. Ancient Mesoamerican Pre Columbian Figures And Art Collectibles.
