RUSSIAN LACQUER EASTER EGG CASKET RUSLAN AND LYUDMILA
A vintage Russian lacquered papier mache egg-shaped casket. Black ground color with red interior. The piece is hand-painted with polychrome ornaments and scenes from a Russian tale titled Ruslan and Ludmila by Alexander Pushkin. Monogram KhV on top refers to the phrase Christ is Risen by which Orthodox Christians congratulate each other on Easter day.
