JAPANESE MEIJI COVERED TRIPOD CLOISONNE ENAMEL JAR
An antique Japanese, late Meiji Era, covered tripod enamel over brass koro type jar. The ware is adorned with polychrome medallions depicting a symmetrical image of Phoenix birds made in the Cloisonne technique. The upper part and the cover of the ware are enameled with floral, foliage, scrollwork, and geometrical patterns made in the same technique. The border is enameled with a traditional Greek motif. The cover features a figural finial, covered with polychrome enamel ornaments made in the same technique. Mounted on three legs. Unmarked. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century.
