A vintage Russian Matryoshka doll, a set of hand-painted and lacquered wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside another. Each doll represents a scene from a ballet performance. Hand-signed La Sylphide Ballet, 1996, Artist Modenskaya on the bottom. La Sylphide is a French romantic ballet about the love of the peasant James for the airy maiden Sylphide.
