RUSSIAN SILVER ENAMEL GEMSTONE JADE LETTER OPENER
A Russian gilt Silver and enamel letter opener knife. The letter opener is made of a hand carved Nephrite Jade blade decorated with laurel wreath and ribbons to the ricasso on the both sides, encrusted with Ruby stones. The handle features an Imperial double headed eagle image on a red Guilloche enamel ground. A figural finial is made in a shape of an Imperial elephant, adorned with a red Guilloche enamel, encrusted with Diamond eyes and a Ruby stone on a top, engraved with detailed patterns. The ware is encrusted with semi precious stones, probably Marcasite stones. Presented in a box with a clasp. Marked with a Silver standard hallmark, and other Cyrillic and Assay marks.
