Nikolay Mikhaylovich Chernyshev, Russian, 1885 to 1973, oil on cardboard painting depicting a forest landscape. Signed in Cyrillic and stamped on the backside. One of a kind artwork. Note: Nikolai Mikhailovich Chernyshev - Russian and Soviet artist and art critic, member of the Makovets group, Peoples Artist of the RSFSR, 1970. Student of V. A. Serov. In 1915 he became famous for his illustrations for the Mythological ABC. As part of Makovets group, in the 1920s, he became interested in monumental painting. He studied ancient Russian fresco a lot. Author of studies Technique of wall paintings, 1930, The art of fresco in Ancient Rus, 1954. Russian Soviet Fine Art and Oil Paintings For Collectors.
