An antique French mid 19th century black transfer-printed faience decorative plate from the series commemorating the birth of the 2nd republic in France in 1848, made by Creil and Montereau Faienceries under the name Lebeuf, Milliet and Co. circa 1850-1876. Plate No. 9, titled in French: Assassinat du General de Brea et De Son Aide-de-Camp - Juin 1848. The scene depicts the dramatic death of General Jean Baptiste Fidele Brea and his aide-de-camp Mangin at the Maison-Blanche guard house.
