A Magnificent Hand-Embroidered Torah Mantle, Ottoman Empire, 19th c - The rigid circular upper section is pierced with two round openings for the Torah scroll's wooden rollers (”Etzei Chaim”) and is attached to a decorated textile panel designed to wrap and cover the scroll. Densely hand-embroidered in gold-toned metal threads with an elaborate floral pattern on a burgundy ground, and further embellished with tassels, some lacking.
