An Inro Partitioned into 3 Compartments Carved in the Finest Tsuikoku Technique Depicting Scenes In The Heart of the Forest, Japan - 19th Century
An Inro carved using the Tsuikoku (carved black lacquer) technique at the highest level with fine and graduated gilding, on one side you can see a man riding a bull in the forest, the bull's legs are leaning to the sides while its body is leaning forward, its owner is riding on it with his head down to the side over another man, on the other side a scene of the lumberjacks stacking and tying the trunks of the trees they cut down, their work tools are spread out next to the trunk of the tree they cut, at the bottom the tiger is lurking in a dynamic position for the bull and its owner and a serpenting dragon on the upper side of the Inro, the inside of the Inro is covered with golden, red and black lacquer using an unusual technique, defects and old fractures that have been glued.
