Rare Chinese, bone hairpin -China, early Qing dynasty (1644-1800)
The exquisite item is finely carved and engraved. The upper part depicting a nurturing maiden, perhaps Guanyin, surrounded by young children. One of the children is holding a mythical creature. Many Chinese symbolism throughout. The bottom part of the hairpin is adorned with animals and floral carvings. On the other side a fisherman with trees and birds.
